About Me

Counselling in SW18

Prior to training as a therapist, I worked for the UK Young Autism Project a research company specialising in teaching young children with autism. I have also had the experience of setting up and running a commercial business for several years in the City of London. After attending part-time courses over a two year period in’ Introduction to Counselling’ and the CPCAB’ Certificate in Counselling’, I decided that I really wanted to pursue a full-time career in counselling in preference to my commercial career. I went on to study at Kingston College for 3 years, where I  achieved my BA Hons. in Integrative-Relational Counselling and I gained my clinical experience as a therapist in 2 National Health Centres’ based in Mitcham and Surbiton in Surrey. I have worked as a therapist in clinical practice for over seven years. I am also a fully qualified supervisor and provide facilitative supervison to other counsellors and therapists please refer to my Therapist Supervision page for further details.

The framework of my therapy is based on what is known as Petruska Clarkson’s 5 Relational Model. Essentially, the therapy is bespoke and tailored to suit your individual needs; drawing upon a number of theories and approaches such as Gestalt, Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Existentialism. When appropriate, I may encourage my clients to work creatively, sometimes using colours, visualisation exercises, and drawings or include elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I believe that everyone has the potential to resolve their personal difficulties, improve their life skills, and general sense of well-being with the support, and expertise of therapy.
